Fundraising for Benjamin George Henry
About BenBen was born 12 weeks early ( for no apparent reason) weighing only 2 pounds 12 ounces. He spent 10 weeks being cared for in the Aberdeen Neo Natal Unit. Whilst there he had a routine brain scan, and everyone was very shocked to learn Ben had brain cysts - Periventricular Leukomalacia (PVL). We were told that this often leads to Cerebral Palsy.Ben is now 3 1/2 and has the diagnosis of quadriplegic cerebral palsy. He can not talk or walk, but has learnt to roll and can sit unaided for about a minute:) He is such a great boy and so brave. He has been through a lot already and always has a big smile. He can cheer you up after the most stressful day.He has a whole team of medical people - consultants, physios, OT, speech therapists, the list goes on and on. Our weeks are never quiet with so many appointments, but Ben just goes along with it all.He is a whizz kid at anything electrical or gadgets - he can work the tv remote for all his favourite channels:) We want to do all that we can to help Ben achieve the most he can - and have lots of fun doing it. And that is the main reason for setting up this fund 4 Ben, as lots of equipment and therapies are available but have no NHS funding. So we need to find the money from other sources to give Ben the most opportunities to progress. |
